Recon Marines conduct first-time launch off USS Freedom

Marines with Bravo Company, 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, conduct on and off drills with the USS Freedom as it sits three miles of the shore of Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., March 10, 2014. It was the first time the Marines used a littoral combat ship for the drills and determined that using an LCS gives the reconnaissance teams the ability to launch from the ship and recover at a greater distance out to sea. The training called upon Navy and Marine Corps personnel to work together in order to load and insert the zodiacs, a small inflatable boat with a hand steered engine.
