Lieutenant Colonel Brian Middleton is a native of Arlington, Texas. He was commissioned in December of 1997 after graduating from Texas A&M University.
Following completion of The Basic School and the Infantry Officer’s Course, Lieutenant Colonel Middleton’s first operational assignment was to 2d Battalion, 5th Marines at Camp Pendleton, California. From 1998-2001 he completed two deployments with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit serving as a Rifle Platoon Commander and Company Executive Officer.
From 2005-2008 Lieutenant Colonel Middleton was assigned to 1st Battalion, 1st Marines at Camp Pendleton, California. He completed two deployments in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM as a Rifle Company Commander and Leader of an Advisor team assigned to the 7th Iraqi Army Division.
From 2012-2014 Lieutenant Colonel Middleton served as the Battalion Executive Officer of 3d Battalion 7th Marines stationed in Twentynine Palms, California, deploying in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
From 2014-2015 Lieutenant Colonel Middleton served as the Operations Officer of the 7th Marine Regiment. He deployed as the Operations Officer of the Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force assigned to United States Central Command supporting Operation INHERENT RESOLVE.
Lieutenant Colonel Middleton’s additional assignments include service as a Foreign Area Officer in the Republic of Korea and at United States Pacific Command.
Lieutenant Colonel Middleton attended the Naval Postgraduate School, receiving a Masters in National Security Affairs in 2004 and graduated from the Marine Corps Command and Staff College in 2012, receiving a Masters in Military Studies (Distinguished Graduate).
