Lieutenant Colonel Greene was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in 1998. After completing The Basic School, he was assigned to the Infantry Officers Course, Quantico, VA. His first Fleet Marine Force (FMF) tour was with Lima Company, 3d Battalion, 7th Marines in Twenty-nine Palms. He filled the billets of Rifle and Weapons Platoon Commander and Company Executive Officer. He deployed twice with the Unit Deployment Program (UDP) to Okinawa, Japan.
Captain Greene was assigned to the Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry, at Camp Geiger in Jacksonville, NC. He served as the Charlie Company Executive Officer and Company Commander. He deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) as a Military Training Team (MiTT) member to an Afghan Light Infantry Battalion. Upon return from this deployment, he executed orders as a student to the Expeditionary Warfare School (EWS 2004-2005).
Captain Greene was then assigned to 2d Battalion 6th Marines at Camp Lejeune, NC. He deployed twice in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) to Fallujah, once as a Company Commander and the other as the Battalion Operations Officer. Major Greene was then assigned to the Marine Corps Tactics and Operations Group (MCTOG) in Twenty-nine Palms, CA. He was a Battalion Team Officer-in-Charge, mentoring and training Infantry Battalions in planning and executing Combat Operation Center activities. He was a platform instructor and Facility Advisor for the Operations and Tactics Instructor (OTI) courses. He deployed during this tour in support of OEF with 3d Battalion, 8th Marines as a Planner. Upon his return to MCTOG he continued to train Battalions and instruct OTI courses. Concurrently, Maj Greene completed the USMC non-resident Command & Staff College and then attended the US Army’s School of Advance Military Studies in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, receiving a Masters in Military Art and Science.
Major Greene then executed orders to I Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF) in Camp Pendleton, CA. As a Planner, he deployed with I MEF (Forward) as Regional Command Southwest (RC-SW) in support of OEF. After nearly two years as a MEF Planner, Maj Greene received orders to 5th Marines as the Regimental Operations Officer. Maj Greene deployed with members of the 5th Marines Headquarters to make the nucleus of the Special Marine Air Ground Task Force – Crisis Response – Central Command (SPMAGTF-CR-CC).
Lieutenant Colonel Greene’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Medal, Bronze Star with “V” and 1x gold star, Meritorious Service Medal with 1x gold star, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with “V” and 1x gold star, a Navy Achievement Medal, and a Combat Action Ribbon with 1x gold star.
