Gunnery Sergeant Roberts was born in Owensboro, Kentucky and enlisted in the Marine Corps on 16 August 1998 where he attended Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina. Upon completion of recruit training, PFC Roberts attended Marine Combat Training aboard Camp Geiger, NC, where he was meritoriously promoted to LCpl. LCpl Roberts attended Supply School for Basic Warehousing aboard Camp Johnson, NC in December 1998.
In December 1998, LCpl Roberts received orders to 3rd Supply Battalion, Okinawa Japan. LCpl Roberts was assigned duties to the Battalion mailroom, where he worked from January 1999 to February 2000. LCpl Roberts was then transferred to Initial Issue Provisioning within 3rd Supply Battalion where he worked as a receiving and issue clerk. On January 2001 he was promoted to the rank of Corporal.
Corporal Roberts was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in November 2002 where he then served as the SNCOIC of Initial Issue Provisioning until December 2004. In January 2005, Sergeant Roberts was transferred to 3rd Battalion 1st Marines on Camp Pendleton, Ca where he served as the Warehouse Chief and deployed to OIF from September 2005 to April 2006.
Upon his return from Iraq in October 2006, Sergeant Roberts was selected to Recruiting Duty. Sergeant Roberts was assigned duties as a canvassing recruiter at Recruiting Station Sacramento, Recruiting Sub-Station Redding in December 2006. November 2007 Sergeant Roberts was promoted to Staff Sergeant.
In December 2009 Staff Sergeant Roberts received orders to MCAS Miramar, San Diego, Ca, were he was assigned to Marine Tactical Air Command Squadron 38, Headquarters Company as the Squadron’s Supply Warehouse Chief.
In December 2012, Staff Sergeant Roberts then received orders to 2nd Supply Battalion, 2nd MLG where he served at Flams Section, Storage as the SNCOIC. Staff Sergeant Roberts was selected to Gunnery Sergeant August 2013. In February 2014 GySgt Roberts received orders to report to II MEF, II MHG, Advisor Training Cell for SFAAT 14.1 Team. In April 2014 SFAAT 14.1 was cancelled and GySgt Roberts received orders to II MEF G-7 to serve as the Training and Education SNCOIC as well serve as the II MEF G-7 Operations Chief.
Gunnery Sergeant Roberts’s awards and decorations include: Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (w/ 1 Gold Star) and Good conduct Medal (w/ 4 bronze stars).
