Lieutenant Colonel Greeley

Lieutenant Colonel Greeley was born and raised in Denver, Colorado.  He graduated from Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland in 1993 and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in 1995.  Following graduation from the Basic Officer Course and Infantry Officer Course, he reported to 1st Battalion, 7th Marines in 29 Palms, California.  During this tour, he served as a Rifle Platoon Commander in Suicide Charley, the 81mm Mortar Platoon Commander, the Assistant Operations Officer, and the Commanding Officer of Company A. In 1998 he deployed with 1/7 to Okinawa, Japan as part of the Unit Deployment Program. 

In June of 1999, LtCol Greeley reported to The Basic School for duty as a Tactics Instructor and Staff Platoon Commander.  In 2000 LtCol Greeley was assigned as an instructor at the Infantry Officer Course where he served as the Class Advisor for Infantry Officer Course 4-01.  Following his tour at TBS and IOC, LtCol Greeley attended Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico, Virginia and graduated in June of 2003 as the Ground Combat Arms Honor Graduate.

LtCol Greeley reported to 2d Battalion, 1st Marines in June of 2003.  He served as the Assistant Operations Officer and deployed with 2/1 to Fallujah, Iraq in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.  Upon returning from Iraq, he assumed command of Golf Company and subsequently deployed with Battalion Landing Team 2/1 as part of the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit and again returned to Iraq in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.  Upon 2/1’s redeployment in March of 2006, LtCol Greeley was assigned as the H&S Company Commander until his departure in May of 2006.

LtCol Greeley reported to the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland in June of 2006.  He was assigned to the Leadership, Ethics and Law Department where he served as the Course Curriculum Coordinator and Instructor for Leadership, one elective and the Marine Corps Practicum course.  He also served as OIC of the USNA Marine Corps Summer Training Program “Leatherneck” and the Military Officer Representative for the Sprint Football Team.  In the summer of 2009, LtCol Greeley attended the Marine Corps Command and Staff College.  He graduated in June of 2010 with a Master of Arts in Military Studies and as a Distinguished Graduate.

Following graduation from Command and Staff, LtCol Greeley reported to 2d Bn, 5th Marines to serve as the Executive Officer.  In November of  2010, LtCol Greeley deployed with BLT 2/5 to Okinawa, Japan as part of the 31st MEU where he served as the BLT XO, the Maritime Raid Force Commander and participated in relief operations in support of Operation TOMODACHI.  In June of 2011, LtCol Greeley reported to I MEF Headquarters Group for duty as the Executive Officer.  He served as the I MHG XO until June of 2012. 

In June of 2012, LtCol Greeley returned to 29 Palms and assumed Command of 3d Battalion, 7th Marines until March of 2013.  In March of 2013 LtCol Greeley assumed the duties of Executive Officer, 7th Marine Regiment until May of 2014.

In addition to EWS and CSC, LtCol Greeley is also a graduate of the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center’s Summer Mountain Leaders Course and Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One’s Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course.
