Sergeant Major Lane
Sergeant Major Lane enlisted in the Marine Corps in August 1988 and attended 2nd Recruit Training Battalion at MCRD San Diego, Ca. Upon graduation in November 1988, he was promoted to the rank of Private First Class and transferred to the School Of Infantry in Camp Pendleton, Ca.

Sergeant Major Lane graduated MOS school in February of 1989, and received orders to 1st Battalion 1st Marines, Delta Company, in Camp Pendleton, Ca. where he served as an Infantry Rifleman. In May 1989, he was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal. In December 1990, he was promoted to the rank of Corporal, meritoriously.

In December of 1990, he was deployed to Saudi Arabia where he participated in Operation Desert Shield/Storm, serving as a Fire team Leader with 1st Battalion 1st Marines, Delta Company, 3rd Platoon. In May of 1993, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

In August 1993, after three deployments with 1st Battalion 1st Marines, Sergeant Major Lane attended Security Forces School in Chesapeake Virginia. Upon graduation of Security Forces School, he was assigned to Marine Barracks 8th & I, Washington, D.C. where he served as Sergeant of the Guard.

In October 1993, Sergeant Major Lane was transferred to Naval Security Force (Camp David, Presidential Retreat) in Thurmont Maryland, where he served as Sergeant of the Guard. While assigned to Camp David, the Presidential Retreat, he was awarded the Presidential Service Badge.

In October 1995, Sergeant Major Lane was transferred to 3rd Battalion 5th Marines in Camp Pendleton, Ca. where he served as an Infantry Squad Leader in Lima Company, 2nd Platoon.

In January 1997, Sergeant Major Lane was later assigned, Platoon Sergeant/Platoon Commander 3rd Battalion 5th Marines, Lima Company, 2nd Platoon. In February 1998, Sergeant Major Lane was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant.

In June 1999, Sergeant Major Lane attended Drill Instructor School Class 4-99, MCRD, San Diego, CA. Upon graduating, he was assigned to 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, Fox Company where he served as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, and Chief Drill Instructor. In December 2001, Sergeant Major Lane was assigned as the 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, Routing Chief.  In July 2002, he was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant, meritoriously.

In July 2003, Sergeant Major Lane was again assigned to Marine Barracks 8th & I, Washington, D.C., where he served as Company First Sergeant, Company Gunnery Sergeant, and a 0369 Distance Learning Instructor for the Marine Corps Institute. In April 2006, he was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant.

In May 2006, Sergeant Major Lane was assigned to Marine Corps Base, Quantico Va., where he served as Company First Sergeant of India Company, Officer Candidates School.

In September 2006, Sergeant Major Lane was transferred to 1st Marine Division, where he served as Company First Sergeant, 1st Battalion 4th Marines, Bravo Company.

In January 2007, Sergeant Major Lane was reassigned to Headquarters Company, 1st Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team One. In January 2008, he deployed with the Regiment to Fallujah, Iraq in support of OIF 7-9.

In January 2010, Sergeant Major Lane was promoted to his current rank and transferred to Marine Wing Support Squadron 374 for duty as the Squadron Sergeant Major.

In December 2012, Sergeant Major Lane reported to 3D Combat Engineer Battalion, where he served as the Battalion Sergeant Major and deployed to Afghanistan in support of OEF 13.1 and 13.2.

In March 2014, SgtMaj Lane was reassigned to 7th Marine Regiment, where he currently serves as the Regimental Sergeant Major.

His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with gold star, the Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal with gold star, the Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal with gold star, the Combat Action Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal (eighth award).
