Sergeant Major Trickler is a native of Townsend, Tennessee. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in August 2005 and completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island. Upon graduating from the School of Infantry–East in February 2006, he earned the MOS 0311 and reported to 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2d Marine Division. He served as a Rifleman, Team Leader, Squad Leader, and Platoon Sergeant, deploying to Ramadi, Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve and to Garmsir and Marjah, Afghanistan in support of Operations Asada Wosa and Moshtarak.
In 2010, Sergeant Trickler reported to Advanced Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry East, as a Martial Arts Instructor Trainer. He supported Exercise Bold Alligator and trained personnel from more than 18 partner nations in Marine Corps Martial Arts.
In 2012, he graduated from Basic Recruiter School and was assigned to Recruiting Station Des Moines, Iowa, where he served as a Recruiter, Detachment Commander, and Officer Selection Officer.
In 2015, Staff Sergeant Trickler reported to 1st Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division, serving as Security Platoon Sergeant, Combined Anti Armor Team Platoon Commander, and Company Gunnery Sergeant. He supported Exercise Ssang Yong with the 31st MEU and Operation Active Endeavor with the 15th MEU.
In 2018, Gunnery Sergeant Trickler deployed to Okinawa with the Staff Academy, serving as Basic Faculty Advisor, Master Faculty Advisor, and Course Chief, leading instruction in Warfighting and History.
In 2020, he was selected to Marine Corps Security Cooperation Group, serving as Assistant Operations Chief and Operations Chief. In February 2022, he was frocked to First Sergeant and assigned as the Inspector Instructor First Sergeant for 3d Force Reconnaissance Company, 4th Marine Division. In 2025, he reported to 1st Intelligence Battalion, Counterintelligence Company.
In April 2026, he was promoted to Sergeant Major and currently serves as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader for 2d Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division.
His accomplishments include graduating with honors from the Infantry Squad Leaders Course; the Infantry Unit Leaders Course; the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy; and the U.S. Army Sergeant Major Academy, as well as earning both a Bachelor of Science and a Masters degree in Adult Education from Trident University.
Personal Awards: Meritorious Service Medal; Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five Gold Stars); Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (Valor device and two Stars).
