Lieutenant Colonel Mark Saville grew up in Hull, Massachusetts. He enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve in May 2003 and was assigned to 1st Battalion, 25th Marines prior to graduating from Norwich University and commissioning in May 2007.
His fleet assignments include: Combined Anti-Armor Team Platoon Commander and 81mm Mortar Platoon Commander with 3d Battalion, 1st Marines; Company Commander and Battalion Operations Officer with 1st Battalion, 8th Marines.
His supporting establishment assignments include: Warfighting Instructor and Staff Platoon Commander at The Basic School; Instructor at The Infantry Officer Course; Commanding Officer of Recruiting Station Denver; Strategy and Plans Branch Head, Training and Education Command G-5.
He has deployed in support of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, Operation Enduring Freedom, Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force Crisis Response Africa, and the Unit Deployment Program.
He is a graduate of The Basic School, Infantry Officer Course, USA Mortar Leaders Course, Summer Mountain Leaders Course, Expeditionary Warfare School, USMC Command and Staff, The School of Advanced Warfighting, and is a 2024 Massachusetts Institute of Technology Seminar XXI National Security Policy Fellow.
He is married to the former Ashley Moore of Woodstock, Georgia. They live in San Clemente, California with their sons Robert and William.
