Sergeant Major Brown was born and raised in Atmore, Alabama. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2006 and completed recruit training at 3d Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina. Upon graduation, he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Private First Class. In September 2006, he reported to the School of Infantry in Camp Geiger, North Carolina where he earned his MOS 0311.
In November 2006, Private First Class Brown reported to 3d Battalion, 3d Marines, Kilo Company, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. In May 2007, he was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal. He then deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from August 2007 to February 2008. In February of 2009, he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Corporal. Corporal Brown then deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from March 2009 to October 2009. In May 2010, he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Sergeant Brown then deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from May 2010 and December 2010.
In March 2011, Sergeant Brown received orders to Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina for duty as a Drill Instructor. Upon completion of Class 3-11, he was assigned to Mike Company, 3d Recruit Training Battalion where he held the billets of Drill Instructor and Senior Drill Instructor. In January 2013, he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant. From February 2013 to May 2014, Staff Sergeant Brown assumed the duties of 3d Recruit Training Battalion Drill Master.
In June 2014, Staff Sergeant Brown reported to 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines. From September 2014 to March 2015, he deployed to Kuwait in support of Special Purpose MAGTF 15.1. During the period, he served as the Company Gunnery Sergeant for Headquarters and Service Company. Upon return to Twentynine Palms, California, Staff Sergeant Brown assumed the duties of Platoon Sergeant and Company Gunnery Sergeant for Echo Company. From April 2016 to October 2016, he deployed to Al-Taqaddum, Iraq as a Platoon Sergeant in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.
In January 2017, Staff Sergeant Brown reported to the Staff Non-Commissioned Officers Academy, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, California where he served as a Faculty Advisor, Deputy Director, Academics Officer, and Force Fitness Instructor. In September 2017, he was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. During his time at the Staff Non-Commissioned Officers Academy in Twentynine Palms, he was the Marine Corps University's Enlisted Elihu Rose Award Recipient for the Academic Year 2017-2018, Faculty Advisor of the Year for 2018, Faculty Advisor of the Quarter three times, and Dynamic Instructor ten times. In December 2018, Gunnery Sergeant Brown received orders to the College of Enlisted Military Education, Quantico, Virginia where he served as the Faculty Development Manger for the Enlisted College.
In September 2021, he was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant and reported to 3d Littoral Anti-Air Battalion, 3d Marine Littoral Regiment, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii where he served as the Unit Senior Enlisted Leader for Headquarters and Service Battery. After
activating 3d Littoral Anti-Air Battalion, he received orders to 3d Battalion, 3d Marines in April 2022, where he deployed from June 2022 to December 2022 to Okinawa, Japan in support of Unit Deployment Program 2-22 as the Unit Senior Enlisted Leader for Headquarters and Service Company. Following the deactivation of 3d Battalion, 3d Marines, First Sergeant Brown received orders to 3d Marine Littoral Regiment where he served as the Unit Senior Enlisted Leader for Communications Company. Communications Company received the 2023 Lieutenant Colonel Kevin M. Shea Memorial Unit of the Year award.
In May 2024, Sergeant Major Brown was frocked to his current rank and reported to Air Control Training Squadron, Marine Corps Communications-Electronics School in Twentynine Palms, California where he served as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader. During his tenure, Air Control Training Squadron accomplished numerous Service and below level objectives while executing training across multiple communications-electronics and air command and control occupational fields, to include Low Altitude Air Defense, communications-electronics maintenance, and Advanced Explosive Ordnance Disposal programs. This period also included several military occupational specialty mergers and organizational restructuring across the training pipelines.
In February 2026, Sergeant Major Brown reported to 3d Battalion, 11th Marines, 11th Marine Regiment in Twentynine Palms, California where he currently serves at the Command Senior Enlisted Leader.
Sergeant Major Brown's personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with two Gold Star in lieu 3rd award, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two Gold Stars in lieu 3rd award, and the Combat Action Ribbon. Additionally, Sergeant Major Brown's spouse is an active duty service member in the United States Marine Corps.
