Sergeant Major Miranda enlisted in the Marine Corps on September 10, 2003, and attended Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD), Parris Island, South Carolina. He was assigned to Company G, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion.
Following graduation from MCRD Parris Island, Private First Class Miranda reported to Infantry Training Battalion (ITB) on Camp Geiger, North Carolina, where he received the primary MOS of 0331 Machine Gunner.
Upon graduation from ITB in March 2004, Private First Class Miranda received orders to 3rd Battalion, 6th Marines, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal in April 2004 and served as a Gunner with Combined Anti-Armor Team (CAAT).
In May 2004, Lance Corporal Miranda deployed to Afghanistan with 3/6 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, returning in November 2004. He was promoted to the rank of Corporal in July 2005. In August 2005, Corporal Miranda deployed with 3/6 to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom as a Team Leader and Vehicle Commander for the Mobile Assault Platoon (MAP). Upon return, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Sergeant Miranda again deployed with 3/6 to Iraq as a Section Leader for Mobile Assault Platoon in January 2007.
After returning from Operation Iraqi Freedom in August 2007, Sergeant Miranda attended Sergeants Course and was transferred to 6th Marine Regiment while awaiting orders to Marine Security Guard School. While at 6th Marine Regiment, Sergeant Miranda served as a Squad Leader for 1st Platoon, Headquarters Company.
In August 2008, Sergeant Miranda attended Marine Security Guard School (MSG) with class 5-08. In October 2008, he received orders to MSG Detachment Manama, Bahrain, where he served as Assistant Detachment Commander. In October 2009, Sergeant Miranda received orders for MSG Detachment Hong Kong, China, serving as Assistant Detachment Commander. In September 2010, he received orders to MSG Detachment Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, where he was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant and served as Assistant Detachment Commander and Detachment Commander for MSG Detachment Chisinau, Moldova.
After his tour in Kyrgyzstan, Staff Sergeant Miranda received orders to 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, where he served as a rifle company Platoon Sergeant. In June 2012, Staff Sergeant Miranda deployed with 1/1 to Helmand Province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, returning in November 2012. In November 2014, SSgt Miranda deployed with 1/1 to Okinawa, Japan, as part of the Unit Deployment Program (UDP), returning to CONUS in April 2015.
In June 2014, Staff Sergeant Miranda reported to 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, serving as Platoon Sergeant for Combined Anti-Armor Team One (CAAT-1). In October 2014, he deployed with 3/5 to Okinawa, Japan, as part of the UDP. In August 2016, Staff Sergeant Miranda was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. In April 2017, he deployed with 3/5 as part of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), serving as CAAT-1 Platoon Sergeant and Operations Chief for Company I.
In May 2018, Gunnery Sergeant Miranda reported to 3d Marine Division, Okinawa, Japan, serving as the G-3 Current Operations Chief. During his time there, he participated in numerous exercises in the Pacific region and deployed with the 31st MEU in support of Talisman Saber 19. In July 2020, First Sergeant Miranda received orders to 3rd Battalion, 11th Marines, Twentynine Palms, California, serving as Battery M First Sergeant. With 3/11, he deployed in support of 1st Battalion, 7th Marines as part of Marine Rotational Force-Darwin 21.2.
In February 2022, First Sergeant Miranda received orders to 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, where he served as Weapons Company First Sergeant. While at 1/7, he deployed to Okinawa, Japan, as part of the UDP. Sergeant Major Miranda was promoted to his current rank in July 2024 and was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines in August 2024.
