Commanding Officer, 2nd Battalion, 11th Marines
LtCol J. M. Noone

Lieutenant Colonel Noone was born in June 1983 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.  He enlisted in the Marine Corps in January 2002 and became a Special Intelligence Communicator.  He deployed in 2004 with the I Marine Expeditionary Force to Iraq and served in required intelligence support roles during his enlisted time.  He graduated from Old Dominion University and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in May 2008.

Upon completion of The Basic School in 2009, Lieutenant Colonel Noone attended the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.  After graduating, he reported to Romeo Battery, 5th Battalion, 10th Marines and served as a Forward Observer. In November of 2010, Lieutenant Colonel Noone deployed as a Forward Observer with Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 9th Marines, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

In August 2011, Lieutenant Colonel Noone returned to 5th Battalion, 10th Marines and served as the Executive Officer of Sierra Battery.  In April 2012, Lieutenant Colonel Noone reported to Security Cooperation Task Force, Africa Partnership Station-12 (SCTF-APS 12) for service as the Assistant Operations Officer.  During the period of August 2012 to December 2012, he deployed aboard the USS Fort McHenry as part of SCTF-APS 12 supporting U.S. European Command and U.S. Africa Command in security cooperation missions in Europe, and contingency operations in Africa.  Upon return to 10th Marines, Lieutenant Colonel Noone served as the 10th Marines Fire Direction Officer and Training Officer.

In June of 2013, Lieutenant Colonel Noone reported to Marine Corps Detachment Fort Sill, Oklahoma to serve as Field Artillery Basic Officers Course (FA-BOLC) Fire Support Instructor.  From April 2015 to January 2016, Lieutenant Colonel Noone served as the Battery Commander, Marine Battery, Marine Corps Detachment Fort Sill, Oklahoma.  In February 2016, Lieutenant Colonel Noone reported to Field Artillery Captains Career Course and graduated in May 2016.

Upon graduation from Captains Career Course, Lieutenant Colonel Noone reported to 5th Battalion, 11th Marines where he served as the Assistant Fires Plans Officer.  In December of 2016, Lieutenant Colonel Noone assumed command of Battery T, 5th Battalion, 11th Marines.  In August of 2017 he relinquished command and stood up the HIMARS Detachment, Task Force South West (TFSW), Rotation-1.  Lieutenant Colonel Noone deployed the Detachment in November 2017 to Afghanistan in support of TFSW, Operation Resolute Support, and Operation Freedoms Sentinel. 

In July 2018, Lieutenant Colonel Noone reported to Marine Corps Command and Staff College.  Upon graduation from Marine Corps Command and Staff College Lieutenant Colonel Noone reported for duty as the Assistant Battalion Inspector-Instructor of 5th Battalion, 14th Marines in June of 2019.  In August of 2022, Lieutenant Colonel Noone reported into 2nd Battalion, 11th Marines for service as the Battalion Logistics Officer.  In June of 2023, Lieutenant Colonel Noone assumed the responsibilities of Executive Officer, 2d Battalion, 11th Marines.

In June of 2024, Lieutenant Colonel Noone assumed the responsibilities of Executive Officer, 11th Marines and served as the Executive Officer until December 2025.  Lieutenant Colonel Noone was selected to command 2d Battalion, 11th Marines in August 2024.

Lieutenant Colonel Noone is married and they have two daughters, and a son.
