Commanding Officer, 3d Assault Amphibian Battalion
LtCol F.D. Monday

Lieutenant Colonel Monday is a native of Silver Spring, Maryland and graduated from the University of Baltimore in May 2008. Lieutenant Colonel Monday’s operational tours were with 3d Assault Amphibian Battalion (3d AA Bn) from 2009-2012 serving as a platoon commander with Charlie Company and then company executive officer and company commander with Headquarters and Service Company.

 

During this tour, he deployed in support of the Partnership of the America’s and Operation ENDURING FREEDOM (OEF).  From 2016-2018, he served as the company commander for Combat Assault Company (CAC), 3d Marine Regiment.  From 2022-2023, he served as the Battalion Executive Officer and Battalion Commander for 2d AABn.

 

Lieutenant Colonel Monday’s staff assignments were serving with Marine Corps Recruiting Command (MCRC) from 2012-2015 as the National Director, Officer Naval/Enlisted Program (ON/E).  From 2019-2022, he served as the Joint and Maritime Planner, Future Operations Officer, and Commander’s Action Group (CAG) to the Commanding General for Task Force 51/5 and Joint Task Force-Crisis Response (JTF-CR).  During this tour, he deployed multiple times in support of Operation OCTAVE QUARTZ, Operation ALLIES REFUGE, and other contingency operations.  From 2023-2024, he served as the Assistant Officer in Charge (OIC) and OIC for the Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV) Transition Training Unit (TTU).

 

Lieutenant Colonel Monday is a graduate of Officer Candidate School (OCS) and The Basic School (TBS) with distinction, Assault Amphibian Officer Course, Martial Arts Instructor and Instructor Trainer (MAI/T) Courses with distinction, Civil Affairs Officer Course, Expeditionary Warfare School (EWS) Non-Resident with distinction, Marine Corps Command and Staff Non-Resident, Maneuver Captains Career Course (MCCC) with distinction, Naval Command and Staff College, the Maritime Advanced Warfighting School (MAWS), and the ACV Operator New Equipment Training (OPNET)
