Commanding Officer, 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines
LtCol B.A. Salter

Lieutenant Colonel Brandon Salter is a native of Valdosta, Georgia and was commissioned in 2008 after earning his degree from Valdosta State University. After graduation from The Basic School and Infantry Officer Course, he reported to 1st Battalion, 3d Marines. From 2009 to 2012, he served as a Rifle Platoon Commander and a Combined Anti-armor Team Platoon Commander deploying twice in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.  He led his platoons in combat operations throughout the Helmand Province and participated in Operation MOSHTARAK in February 2010.

In 2012, Lieutenant Colonel Salter joined the staff at Recruiting Station Jacksonville. During his tour from 2012 to 2015, Lieutenant Colonel Salter served as the Operations Officer for two years and the Executive Officer for his final year.  He was responsible for the operational planning and administrative functions pertaining to the station's recruiting mission that spanned portions of Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina.

In 2015, he attended the Expeditionary Warfare School and received follow-on orders to 1st Battalion, 5th Marines. During his tour with 1st Battalion, 5th Marines, he commanded Bravo Company and deployed with Battalion Landing Team 1/5 in support of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit. His company served as a vertical assault company for the MEU and participated in multiple training events and exercises.

During the summer of 2018, Lieutenant Colonel Salter joined the 1st Marine Corps District to serve in the recruiting operations section. Throughout his three-year tour, he served as the Assistant for Enlisted Recruiting as well as the District Recruiting Operations Officer. His primary responsibility was supporting the planning and execution of the enlisted recruiting mission that spanned portions of 12 states. At the conclusion of his tour with the First Marine Corps District, Lieutenant Colonel Salter was selected to attend the Marine Corps Command and Staff College.

After graduating from Command and Staff College in 2022, Lieutenant Colonel Salter reported to 2d Battalion, 7th Marines as the Battalion Executive Officer. Throughout his year as the Battalion Executive Officer, he participated in multiple exercises as part of the battalion's preparation for the upcoming deployment. 

During the summer of 2023, Lieutenant Colonel Salter joined the G-3/5/7 at Marine Air Ground Task Force Training Command to serve as the Officer-in-Charge of the Service Level Training Division. In this role, he managed the scheduling and coordination of service-level training exercises, as well as the planning and conduct of the MAGTF Warfighting Exercise.
