Sergeant Major Camilo is a native of southern California. He attended boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California. Upon completion of the Basic Administrative Clerk Course aboard Camp Johnson, North Carolina, he was assigned the MOS of 0151.
Sergeant Major Camilo's first assignment was at Marine Corps Communication Electronics School Twenty-nine Palms, California where he would serve as an Adjutant Clerk and eventually Legal Chief.
In March 2009, Sergeant Major Camilo received orders to Marine Corps Security Force Company, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba in support of the U.S. Naval Station's physical Security/Anti-terrorism forces and Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
In March 2010, Sergeant Major Camilo received orders to 2d Battalion, 3d Marines Kaneohe Bay, Hawai'i. During this tour, he deployed to the Helmand Province Afghanistan in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM and to Okinawa Japan on a Unit Deployment Program.
In April 2013, Sergeant Major Camilo received orders to 9th Marine Corps Recruiting District Kansas City, Missouri where he would serve as the District Adjutant Chief. In April 2014, 9th Marine Corps Recruiting District was relocated to Naval Station Great Lakes, Illinois.
In April 2016, Sergeant Major Camilo received orders to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 24 Kaneohe Bay, Hawai'i. During this tour, he deployed as a Joint IA to Kabul Afghanistan in support of Operation FREEDOM'S SENTINEL. During this deployment, Sergeant Major Camilo served as the Operations Chief for the COMRS/USFOR-A inside the United States Embassy Kabul.
In October 2018, Sergeant Major Camilo received orders to 2d Transportation Support Battalion Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
In August 2021, Sergeant Major Camilo received orders to Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Arizona. In February 2022, Sergeant Major Camilo received orders to Marine Air Control Squadron 1 where he would serve as the Company First Sergeant for Company M. During this tour, he deployed to the Philippines as the MACG-38(FWD) Sergeant Major in support of Marine Aviation Support Activity.
In March 2024, Sergeant Major Camilo received orders to Marine Corps Security Force Company, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. During this tour, he was responsible for providing regional security and training for U.S. Southern Command, focusing on contingency and migrant operations in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM and Operation SOUTHERN GUARD.
In July 2025, Sergeant Major Camilo received orders to 1st Maintenance Battalion where he served as the Company First Sergeant for Ordnance Maintenance Company.
Sergeant Major Camilo assumed his current post as the Battalion Sergeant Major for 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion on 18 June 2026.
Sergeant Major Camilo is a graduate of the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 269/Green Group).
His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with three gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with three gold stars, the Army Achievement Medal, and various other Service and Campaign medals.
He has one daughter, Rosealia (11) and one son, Vincenzo (7).
