Commanding Officer, 3d Battalion, 4th Marines
LtCol Bryceson K. Tenold

Lieutenant Colonel Tenold is a native of Spokane, WA. He commissioned in 2005 after graduating from Pepperdine University. He attended The Hebrew University of Jerusalem as an Anna Sobol Levy fellow from 2005 until 2006 before completing The Basic School and Infantry Officer Course.

In 2007, he reported to 2d Battalion, 3d Marines and deployed to Karmah, Iraq as a weapons platoon commander supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. In 2009 he deployed to Delaram, Afghanistan as the commander of headquarters and service company and the battalion’s information operations officer supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

In 2010, Captain Tenold reported to Defense Language Institute-Washington for Hindi language training before serving as an Olmsted Scholar at Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi, India, 2011-2013.

In 2013, Captain Tenold reported to 3d Battalion, 6th Marines and took command of Company K. He deployed in command of the mechanized company for the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit/USS IWO JIMA Amphibious Ready Group to the EUCOM and CENTCOM areas of responsibility. Upon return from deployment, he served as the battalion’s executive officer.

In 2016, he reported to the US Army Command and General Staff College, completing the Command and General Staff Officer Course and the Advanced Military Studies Program.

In 2018, Major Tenold reported to I Marine Expeditionary Force, serving as the Future Operations Planner, Northeast Asia Planner, and Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff, G-5.

In 2021, Lieutenant Colonel Tenold reported to 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit as the operations officer and deployed aboard the USS MAKIN ISLAND Amphibious Ready Group to the INDOPACOM area of responsibility.

Lieutenant Colonel Tenold holds a Bachelor of Science in International Business from Pepperdine University, a Master of Arts in International Relations from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, a Master of Arts in History from Jawaharlal Nehru University, and a Master of Arts in Military Operations from the US Army Command and General Staff College.
