Commanding Officer, 3d Battalion, 4th Marines
LtCol Andrew D. Wright

Lieutenant Colonel Wright is a native of Cobb County, Georgia.  He commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 2009 after graduating from Kennesaw State University.  Upon completion of The Basic School, Lieutenant Wright attended the Infantry Officers Course in Quantico, VA. 

In 2010, Lieutenant Wright reported to 2d Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, serving as Third Platoon Commander, Company C where he deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from April – November 2011.  Upon returning from Afghanistan, Lieutenant Wright assumed duties as Executive Officer, Company D.  In July of 2012, Lieutenant Wright joined the Helmond Provincial Police Advisor Team as an individual augment where he deployed to Afghanistan from December 2012 – October 2013.  

In January 2014, Captain Wright transferred to Marine Corps Security Force Battalion, Kings Bay, GA where he served as a Platoon Commander, Company Executive Officer, and Company Commander.  In July 2016, Captain Wright reported to Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico, VA.  Following Expeditionary Warfare School, Captain Wright served as a Platoon Commander for the Officer Candidates School summer augmentation program.  In September 2017, Captain Wright transferred to 1st Battalion, 7th Marines where he served as Weapons Company Commander and Battalion Operations Officer, deploying to Kuwait as part of the SPMAGTF-CR-CC from April – October 2019.  In January 2020, Major Wright assumed the duties as Assistant Operations Officer, 7th Marine Regiment.   

In July 2020, Major Wright attended Marine Corps Command and Staff College in Quantico, VA.  Following Command and Staff College, Major Wright attended the School of Advanced Warfighting.  Upon graduating the School of Advanced Warfighting, Major Wright received orders to Marine Corps Installations Pacific, Okinawa, Japan where he served as the G-5 Plans Officer from July – December 2022.  From January 2023 to May 2025, Lieutenant Colonel Wright served as the Deputy AC/S G-5.  

Lieutenant Colonel Wright holds a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management from Kennesaw State University, a Master of Military Studies from Marine Corps University, and a Master of Operational Studies from Marine Corps University.
