Commanding Officer, 1st Battalion, 1st Marines
LtCol T. W. Morrow

LtCol Morrow was born in San Diego, CA and ultimately settled in Libertyville, IL.  In 2002, following graduating from Carmel High School, he attended the University of Kansas and received a BA in U.S. History in 2006.  In May 2006, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant via the NROTC program.

Upon completion of The Basic School in March 2007, LtCol Morrow attended the Infantry Officers Course.  He was then assigned to 2d Battalion 8th Marines serving as a Rifle Platoon Commander in Golf Company and deployed to Ramadi, Iraq in 2007-2008. He was then assigned as the CAAT Platoon Commander in Weapons Company, deploying to Helmand Province, Afghanistan in 2009. Additionally, LtCol Morrow served as the H&S Company Commander before departing 2/8.  

LtCol Morrow then transferred to Manpower Management, Enlisted Assignments to serve as the unit head of enlisted ground combat arms from 2010-2011. Following this assignment, LtCol Morrow was selected to serve as the Aide-de-Camp for the Deputy Commandant, Manpower and Reserve Affairs from 2011-2012. He then attended resident Expeditionary Warfare School from 2012-2013.   

LtCol Morrow was assigned to 2d Battalion, 3d Marines and served as the Fox Company Commander from 2013-2014 deploying on UDP. He served as the Weapons Company Commander from 2014-2016, deploying on UDP, and subsequently he served as the Battalion Operations Officer from 2016 to 2017, again deploying on UDP.

Following his tour with 2/3, LtCol Morrow was assigned as the Commanding Officer for Recruiting Station Fort Worth, TX from 2017-2020. Following successful completion of the enlisted and officer annual recruiting missions, LtCol Morrow attended the Naval Command and Staff College in Newport, RI from 2020-2021.

Upon completion of PME at the Naval War College, LtCol Morrow reported for duty to I MEF G-37, before being reassigned to 1st Marines as the Operations Officer from 2021-2022.

His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with gold star, Navy Commendation Medal with combat distinguishing device and gold star, Navy Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, and he is the recipient of the 2015 Leftwich Trophy.
