Executive Officer, 2d Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment
Major Jonathan B. Bush

Major Bush was born in Athens, Georgia in 1983.  He graduated from Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia in 2006 receiving a BA in English.  The following year, he received a commission in the United States Marine Corps.   

Following completion of The Basic School and Field Artillery Officer Basic Course, he was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division where he served as a Guns Platoon Commander and Artillery Liaison Officer for Battery L. 

In 2009 he served as a Forward Observer for Company F, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marines, 3rd Marine Regiment and deployed to Golestan, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from May 2009 to November 2009.  In 2010, Lieutenant Bush served as the Executive Officer for Battery M, Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, for the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit from June 2010 to January 2011. 

In June 2011, he reported to 3rd Recruit Training Battalion at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina where he was promoted to Captain.  From 2011 to 2013, he served as a Series Commander and Company Executive Officer for Company L.  In 2013, Captain Bush transferred to Headquarters and Service Battalion and served as a G-3 Operations Officer and the Officer-In-Charge of base visits. 

In 2014, Captain Bush was selected to attend the Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico, Virginia.  After graduating in 2015, Captain Bush received orders to 1st Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment.  Captain Bush assumed duties as the Battalion Fire Support Officer for 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines and deployed in support of the Unit Deployment Program from December 2015 to June 2016.  In July of 2016, Captain Bush took command of Battery B, 1st Battalion, 12th Marines.  In April of 2017, he was selected as the Aide-de-Camp for the Deputy Commander, Marine Forces, Pacific.  In February 2018, he was promoted to major. 

In June of 2018, Major Bush reported to Marine Corps Detachment, Fort Sill, Oklahoma.  He served as the Operations Officer until April 2019, where he was assigned as the Officer in Charge of the Officer Instruction branch, overseeing both Marine Artillery Officer Basic Course and the U.S. Army Field Artillery Basic Officer Leadership Course.  In June of 2020, Major Bush served as a Small Group Instructor for the U.S. Army Field Artillery Captains Career Course.  In July 2021, Major Bush reported to 2nd Battalion, 11th Marines at Camp Pendleton where he currently serves.
