Biography
Sergeant Major Christopher T. Balcazar

Sergeant Major Balcazar graduated Richardson High School in Dallas, Texas and entered the Marine Corps on the delayed enter program in June 1988.  Upon graduating in December 1988 with honors from Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California he reported to Aviation Supply School, NAS Meridian. Sergeant Major Balcazar then reported to Marine Aviation Logistic Squadron 41. 

 

In February 1990, Sergeant Major Balcazar reported to Fourth Marine Aircraft Wing Headquarters, where he was assigned as the General’s driver, and Wing Color Sergeant. 

 

In August 1995, Sergeant Major Balcazar reported to Naval Inventory Control Point.  In October 1998, he reported to Marine Aircraft Group 49 Detachment Bravo.

 

In October 2002, Sergeant Major Balcazar reported to Drill Instructor School Class 1-03, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California.  Upon completion of Drill Instructor School, he was assigned to Lima Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion where he served as a Drill Instructor.  

In November 2003, he was then assigned to India Company, where he served as a Senior Drill Instructor and Series Chief Drill Instructor.  In October 2004, Sergeant Major Balcazar was selected and assigned as the 3rd Battalion Drill Master. 

 

In October 2005, Sergeant Major Balcazar was selected and assigned to the Instructor Staff, Drill Instructor School, MCRD San Diego, California.  In August 2006, he was assigned as the Company Gunnery Sergeant of Instructional Training Company, and SNCOIC of the Marine Corps Martial Arts Satellite School.

 

In January 2007, Sergeant Major Balcazar reported to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 16.  In January 2008, he received orders to 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines, MCB Camp Pendleton, where he was assigned as the Company First Sergeant of Lima Company.  In July 2008, Sergeant Major Balcazar deployed with Battalion Landing Team 3/1 on 31st MEU aboard the USS DENVER, and participated in numerous Operations.  In January 2009, he was assigned to Weapons Company, and in April 2010 deployed to South Helmand Province, Afghanistan in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM. 

 

In February 2011, Sergeant Major Balcazar reported to Site Support Inspector-Instructor, MCB Camp Pendleton.  In January 2013, he report to Security & Emergency Service Battalion, MCB Camp Pendleton, where he served as the Company 1stSgt for Marine Corps Police Department.

 

In January 2015, Sergeant Major Balcazar reported to Marine All-Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 224 as the Squadron Sergeant Major.  In September 2015, Sergeant Major Balcazar deployed with Marine All-Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 224 on Unit Deployment Program to IWAKUNI, Japan in support of numerous operations.  In March 2016, he was assigned to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 31 as the Squadron Sergeant Major. 

 

In May 2016, he was assigned to Marine Aircraft Group 31 as the Group Sergeant Major. Sergeant Major was later assigned to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 31 in October 2016. 

 

In January 2017, Sergeant Major Balcazar reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island as the 2nd Recruit Training Battalion Sergeant Major.  In February 2018, he assigned as the Support Battalion Sergeant Major. In July 2018, Sergeant Major reported to 3d Assault Amphibian Battalion.          

 

Sergeant Major Balcazar’s personal awards include Meritorious Service Medal (gold star in lieu of second award), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (gold star in lieu of fourth award), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (gold star in lieu of second award), the Combat Action Ribbon, and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.

 

Sergeant Major Balcazar has a Bachelors degree in Science, with a major in Accounting and currently perusing his Master’s Degree in Business Management (MBA).  In 2014, Sergeant Major Balcazar graduated from the Expeditionary Warfare School Distance Education Program (EWSDEP).
