Biography

Sergeant Major Christian B. Bull

Sergeant Major Bull enlisted in the Marine Corps in November 1998 and attended boot camp at San Diego, California with Platoon 3009, Lima Company, Third Recruit Training Battalion. Private Bull then attended the School of Infantry at Camp Pendleton, California in February 1999.

 

In March of 1999 Private Bull reported to NAS Pensacola, Florida to attend school as an aviation machinist mate. He was meritoriously promoted to Private First Class in February 1999.  In May of 1999 Private First Class Bull reported to Camp Pendleton, California to attend T-400 mechanic school. In June of 1999 Private First Class Bull reported to NAS Jacksonville, Florida to attend T-700 mechanic school. In August of 1999 Private First Class Bull reported for duty to Camp Pendleton, California Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 39 for duty where he deployed from January 2001 to June 2001 to Okinawa, Japan taking part in the Unit Deployment Program. Attending Corporals course in Okinawa, Japan, Corporal Bull was a distinguished graduate, and recipient of the Gung Ho award. He was later awarded a Certificate of Commendation for his actions while assigned as a student at the course. He was promoted to Corporal in November 2000.

 

Shortly after returning from Okinawa, Japan, Corporal Bull was attached to the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit and took part in a Western Pacific cruise from June 2002 to December 2002.  Two weeks after his return, he welcomed his first born child, Ariana to the family. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in February of 2002. After returning from deployment, Sergeant Bull attended the Sergeants course where he was a distinguished graduate, Ironman, and recipient of the Gung Ho award.

 

After graduation Sergeant Bull reenlisted for duty at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego as a Drill Instructor. Upon completing Drill Instructor School class 2-04, 2nd Squad Sgt Bull was assigned to Charlie Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion where he served as Drill Instructor, and Senior Drill Instructor. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant in April of 2005. Upon completion of his time in Charlie Company, Staff Sergeant Bull reported to 1st Recruit Training Battalion for duty as the Battalion Drill Master. He was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant in January of 2007 and received orders to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 39, Camp Pendleton, California for duty as Production Control Chief, Division SNCOIC, and Squadron Gunnery Sergeant.

 

Gunnery Sergeant Bull attended the advanced course in August of 2007, where he was the Ironman. Shortly after completing the advanced course, Gunnery Sergeant Bull was attached to the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit and took part in a Western Pacific cruise from November 2007 to June 2008 where he served as Detachment SNCOIC, Production Control Chief, and Air Combat Element Squadron Gunnery Sergeant. His first son Christian was born during this deployment. He was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant in August 2010 upon his return.

 

 

 

 

 

First Sergeant Bull was assigned to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina in October 2010 and reported to 3rd Battalion 6th Marines where he served as the company First Sergeant for Kilo Company; his second son Benjamin was born and subsequently completed a deployment to Afghanistan.  First Sergeant Bull was later transferred and assigned to Weapons Company; completing a deployment to Okinawa, Japan as part of the Unit Deployment Program.

 

First Sergeant Bull was later assigned to I&I Sacramento, Maintenance and Services Company, Combat Logistics Battalion 23, Combat Logistics Regiment 4, 4th Marine Logistics Group, Marine Forces Reserve. During his time on I&I duty First Sergeant Bull completed 3 CACO’s, over 600 funerals and countless community relations events.

 

First Sergeant Bull was transferred and assigned as the company First Sergeant for Headquarters and Service Company, Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, MCI-West, Camp Pendleton, California and served in that billet from January of 2016 until February of 2017 where he was assigned as the First Sergeant for Alpha Company, Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, MCI-West, Camp Pendleton, California.

 

Sergeant Major Bull was promoted to his current rank in January of 2018 and is serving in his current billet as the battalion Sergeant Major of 1st Battalion 11th Marines.

 

Sergeant Major Bull’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, and the Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal with 2 gold stars.

 

Sergeant Major Bull is married to the former Annie Holliday of Vista, California. Together they have three children: Ariana (15), Christian (10), and Benjamin (7).
