Major Scott C. Culbertson

Major Culbertson was born in Portland Oregon.  After graduating from Clarkson University with a degree in Information Technology, he went to work in the civilian sector for two years before attending Officer Candidates School and commissioning as a second lieutenant in December 2006.

Upon completion of The Basic School and Marine Artillery Basic Corse in 2007, Second Lieutenant Culbertson received orders to 3d Battalion, 10th Marines, where he served as a platoon commander and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and the Fire Direction Officer (FDO).

 In March 2010, he transferred to the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) Command Element, where he served as the Target Information Officer on a Western Pacific (WESTPAC) deployment.

In 2012, Captain Culbertson took command of Echo Battery, 2d Battalion, 11th Marines, and deployed on the 31st MEU as part of Battalion Landing Team (BLT) 2/4.  Upon his return, he served as the battalion operations officer and the Staff Secretary for Commanding General, 1st Marine Division.  He next transferred to Manpower Management, Officer Assignments Branch (MMOA), where he served as a company grade monitor.  Upon his promotion to major, he became the deputy lieutenant colonel monitor. 

In 2018, Major Culbertson attended resident Command and Staff College.  After graduation, he received orders to 5th Battalion, 11th Marines and deployed shortly after as the fires officer for Special Operations Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve (SOJTF-OIR).  He then transferred in March 2020 to 1st Battalion, 11th Marines and served as the Battalion Logistics Officer and as Battalion Executive Officer.

In June of 2022, he was reassigned to Headquarters Battalion, 1st Marine Division, where he is currently serving as the Executive Officer. 

Major Culbertson has been awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
