Commanding Officer Biography
Captain Harris, Thomas M.

Captain Harris was born January 22, 1981.  He attended Officer Candidate School, Marine Corps Base Quantico in 2004 and was commissioned into the United States Marine Corps on December 18, 2004.  Upon commissioning he attended The Basic School from June until December, 2005.  Following graduation, he attended Infantry Officer Course from January until April 2006.

 

In April 2006, Second Lieutenant Harris reported to 1st Battalion, 6th Marines.  While with 1/6 he was the 1st platoon commander for Alpha Company, 1/6 for a deployment to Ramadi, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  While deployed, Second Lieutenant Harris was promoted to First Lieutenant.  After returning to the U.S. he was assigned as a CAAT platoon commander for Weapons Company, 1/6.  While acting in that role, First Lieutenant Harris deployed to Helmand Province Afghanistan with BLT 1/6, the ground combat element of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit.  Following that deployment, First Lieutenant Harris filled the billets of Executive Officer and Company Commander, Weapons Company, 1/6.  Captain Harris was promoted to his current rank on 1 February of 2009.

 

In June 2009, Captain Harris was ordered to the School of Infantry-East.  From October of 2009 until August of 2010, Captain Harris commanded Company B, Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry-East.  Captain Harris then changed billets to the Assistant Operations Officer for the School of Infantry-East.  From April 2011 until August 2012, Captain Harris was the Operations Officer for the School.

 

In May 2012, Captain Harris was ordered to Second Battalion, Seventh Marines, First Marine Division MCAGCC, Twentynine Palms, CA.  He assumed the duties of Company Commander, Company F, 2nd Bn, 7th MAR on 21 May 2012.

 

Captain Harris’ personal awards include: Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with one gold star in lieu of second award and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

 

1st Sergeant Biography
1ST SGT Griffith, Christopher, L.

First Sergeant Griffith is a native of Niceville, Florida, who enlisted in the Marine Corps in May 1997 and attended 1st Recruit Training Battalion aboard MCRD Parris Island, SC.  He graduated as the Platoon Honor Graduate in August 1997, and was promoted to the rank of Private First Class before being transferred to Camp Lejeune, NC for Marine Combat Training.

 

First Sergeant Griffith attended MOS school at Marine Corps Engineer School aboard Camp Lejuene, NC.  He was assigned to Utilities Instruction Company as a Basic Electrician.  He graduated as the class Honor Graduate in October of 1997, and received meritorious promotion to the rank of Lance Corporal.

 

In November of 1997, he was assigned to Combat Engineer Company, Combat Assault Battalion, Camp Hansen, Okinawa.  In April of 1998 he deployed to Thailand in support of Cobra Gold 1998.  In March of 1999 he was promoted meritoriously to the rank of Corporal.  In September of 1999 he attended the Corporals Leadership Course and graduated as the Class Honor Graduate.

 

In December of 1999, First Sergeant Griffith was transferred to 2d Radio Battalion aboard Camp Lejuene, NC. In March of 2000 he attended the Journeyman Electrician NCO Course at Marine Corps Engineer School aboard Camp Lejuene, NC.  In September of 2000 he was selected as the Non-Commissioned Officer of the Quarter for II MEF Headquaters Group.  In October of 2000 he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.  In November of 2000 he completed Airborne School aboard Fort Benning, GA. He completed Sergeants Leadership Course in February 2001.

 

In January 2002, First Sergeant Griffith attended Drill Instructor School aboard MCRD, Parris Island, SC. where he served as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, in Alpha Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion.  In June 2003, First Sergeant Griffith was assigned to Support Battalion as a Marine Combat Instructor Trainer of Water Survival.  On January 2, 2004, he was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant, meritoriously.

 

In October of 2005, First Sergeant Griffith was transferred to Combat Logistics Battalion 1.  He served as the S-4 Chief.  In April of 2006 he attended the Utilities Chief Course aboard Camp Lejeune, NC.  In August 2006 he deployed to Iraq in Support of OIF6-8.2 serving as Platoon Sergent for Convoy Security Platoon.  On March 2, 2007 he was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant, meritoriously.

 

In July of 2007, First Sergeant Griffith deployed for the second time to Iraq in support of OIF7-9.1.  He was assigned to Border Transition Team 562 serving as the Fire Support Coordinator.  In June of 2008 he completed the Staff Non-commissioned Officer Academy Advanced Course.

 

In June of 2008, First Sergeant Griffith was transferred to Support Company, 7th Engineer Support Battalion.  During this time he served as Utilities Chief and Company Gunnery Sergeant.

 

In April of 2009, First Sergeant Griffith was transferred to Marine Wing Support Squadron 374 serving in the billet of Company First Sergeant, Motor Transport Operations Company.

 

In January of 2011, First Sergeant Griffith was promoted to his current rank and was transferred to 2d Battalion 7th Marines where he is currently serving as the Company First Sergeant for Fox Company.

 

His personal awards include the Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal(second award), the Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal(six award), and the Good Conduct Medal (fourth award).
