Zalewski, a native of Chapel Hill, N.C., attended a Pashtu language course at San Diego State University to assist the battalion during their deployment. The $140 million urban warfare training facility consists of more than 1,000 buildings and is divided into four sectors. The buildings replicate what can be found in an urban town to include gas stations, factories, one story complexes, marketplaces and multiple story buildings.
