Sergeant Jose Toranzoinfante was born and raised in Holguin, Cuba, and completed schooling in Miami, Florida. Sergeant Toranzoinfante enlisted in the Marine Corps in October 2014, and attended Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina. After graduating Recruit Training in January of 2015, Sergeant Toranzoinfante attended Marine Combat Training in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, and subsequently reported to the Naval School of Music in Virginia Beach, VA for training as a Marine Musician. In August 2015, he was assigned to the Parris Island Marine Band aboard MCRD Parris Island, where he served as a French Horn Instrumentalist, Fire Team Leader, Squad Leader, Platoon Guide, Section Leader, Administration Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge, Assistant Drum Major, and acting Drum Major.
Following his tour of duty with the Parris Island Marine Band, Sergeant Toranzoinfante was selected to attend the Unit Leader Course at the Naval School of Music in Virginia Beach, VA. After completing the Unit Leader Course, Sergeant Toranzoinfante received orders to the First Marine Division Band, where he has held the billets of Squad Leader, Section Leader, Assistant Drum Major, Drum Major, and is currently serving as the Enlisted Conductor.
Sergeant Toranzoinfante’s decorations and service awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal (2), the National Defense Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
