Maverick Peterson, a basic rifleman from New London, Wis., both with Company B, 1st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, drive an M1161 Internally Transportable Vehicle through a simulated combat town during the first phase of a Limited Objective Experiment aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., Aug. 13, 2015. The experiment is comprised of the integration of ITVs with infantry units to provide the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory with an understanding of how the vehicles will be added to the battalions. The second part of the experiment will take place at Fort Hunter Liggett, Calif., which will provide the Marines with extensive amounts of terrain to test the vehicles’ capabilities over a 3-week training period.
