Biography
Sergeant Major, 2nd Battalion, 11th Marines
SgtMaj D. O. Gonzalez

Sergeant Major González enlisted in the Marine Corps on October 19, 1998.  He attended Recruit Training at MCRD San Diego, Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton, and Cannon Crewman's Course at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, where he received the MOS 0811 Basic Artilleryman.

In May 1999, Lance Corporal González received orders to 2nd Battalion, 11th Marines and deployed with Battalion Landing Teams (BLT) 1/5 and 2/5 on the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) to Okinawa, Japan. 

In December 2002, Sergeant González reported to Security Forces Training Company in Chesapeake, Virginia where he received the MOS 8152, Basic Security Guard, and reported to Marine Corps Security Forces Battalion, where he served as operations NCO.  

In March 2003, Sergeant Gonzalez was assigned to 2nd Fleet Anti-Terrorism Security Team (FAST) Company where he served as a Squad Leader and was certified as a Joint Terminal Attack Controller.  During this period, he traveled to Dominican Republic, to England, to Guantanamo Bay, and to Rota Spain, and deployed to Iraq in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.

In January 2006, Sergeant González received orders to Bravo Battery, 1st Battalion, 11th Marines (1/11), where he deployed with BLT 3/1 on the 13th MEU.

From March 2008 to June 2011, Staff Sergeant González served as a Drill Instructor at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California. 

In July 2011, Staff Sergeant González again received orders to 1/11, where he served as the 120mm Mortars Platoon Sergeant and Battery Gunnery Sergeant and deployed with BLT 3/5 on the 15th MEU and with BLT 2/1 and 11th MEU.

In November 2015, Gunnery Sergeant González received orders to Battery P, 5th Battalion, 14th Marines and then to 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Force Reconnaissance Company, where he served as Company First Sergeant.

In 2020, First Sergeant González received orders to H&S Battalion, MCI West, where he served as H&S Company First Sergeant.

In August 2021, Sergeant Major González was promoted to his current rank, and assumed the duties as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader of Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron Marine Corps Air Station, Camp Pendleton.

In February of 2023, Sergeant Major Gonzalez assumed duties as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader of 2d Battalion, 11th Marines, 1st Marine Division.
