Sergeant Major, 3D Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion
SgtMaj Gerard Casimir

Sergeant Major Gerard Casimir Jr, a native of Boynton Beach, Fl, enlisted in the Marine
Corps and reported to MCRD, Parris Island, SC on 6 June 2001, for recruit training with
Kilo Company, 3d Recruit Training Battalion. Upon his graduation, he reported to Marine
Combat Training at Camp Geiger and then attended his MOS school of Personnel
Administration School (Personnel Clerk) in Camp Johnson, NC during which time he was
promoted to Private First Class.


In January of 2002, then Private First Class Casimir reported for duty to 2d Marine
Division, DPAC in Camp Lejeune, NC where he was promoted to Lance Corporal. In February
2003 he was attached to Task Force Tarawa and deployed to Kuwait City, Kuwait for
Operation Iraqi Freedom. While deployed, Lance Corporal Casimir was in the initial push
into Iraq and was awarded the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal. He returned from Iraq
in July 2003 and returned to DPAC where he was promoted to Corporal.


In August 2004, Corporal Casimir was assigned to 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion and deployed
to Fallujah, Iraq in September 2004. While in deployed he was attached to the Personal
Security Detachment and participated in Operation Phantom Fury. Upon reenlistment and
returning from Iraq in April 2005.


In July 2005, Corporal Casimir checked into 1st Marine Corps Recruiting District, Garden
City, NY to work as a Service Record Book Clerk. He was promoted to Sergeant in November
2006 and reassigned as the Unit Diary Chief for the District including the nine Recruiting
Stations.


In October 2008, Sergeant Casimir checked in to Drill Instructor School graduating school
and earning the MOS 0911. In December 2008, he was assigned to the 3d Recruit Training
Battalion. He checked into 3d Battalion, Quebec Company in January 2009. Once Quebec
Company was disbanded Sergeant Casimir was reassigned to Charlie Company, 1st Battalion in
December 2009. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant in January 2011 before completing his
tour in January 2012.


In March 2012, Staff Sergeant Casimir checked into Training Command, Quantico, VA where he
worked the training chief in the G-3, than as the Adjutant and Admin Chief in the G-1. He
was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant in November 2014. Gunnery Sergeant Casimir spent his
summers training officer candidates at OCS as a Sergeant Instructor/Platoon Sergeant.
In August 2016, Gunnery Sergeant Casimir reported to Marine Forces North, New Orleans, LA
to serve as the Operations Chief in the G-3. There is he was selected to First Sergeant in
January 2018.


In June 2018, First Sergeant Casimir reported to 3d Maintenance Battalion, Okinawa, Japan
to serve as the Company First Sergeant for four different companies and the Battalion
Sergeant Major. In October 2019, he deployed with the Ground Equipment Staging Program to
Darwin, Australia. In June 2021, First Sergeant Casimir reported to Marine Air Control
Squadron-4 as the first wave of First Sergeants in the Wing, where he served as the
Headquarters and Service Company First Sergeant. He was selected to Sergeant Major in
November 2021.


In July 2022, Sergeant Major Casimir reported to 3d Light Armored Reconnaissance
Battalion, Twentynine Palms, CA where he currently serves as the Battalion Sergeant Major.
He is married to Marie and has four children; three sons, Jayden, Justin, Josiah, and
daughter, Jenevieve.


His personal awards include the Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal (w/ 1 gold star),
Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal (w/ 3 gold stars), and the Combat Action Ribbon.
