Major Jeffrey S. Curtis

In December 2000, Major Curtis graduated from Missouri State with a Bachelor of Science in Communications/Public Relations. Upon his commission thereafter, he attended The Basic School (TBS) with Charlie Company (3-01), then continued on to Field Artillery Basic Officer Course (1-02). He subsequently received orders to 1st Battalion, 10th Marines in May 2002.

Upon joining 1/10, Major Curtis served as a forward observer and in January 2003, he was assigned the Fire Direction Officer (FDO) for Alpha Battery, 1/10. He deployed to Iraq with Task Force Tarawa in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM (OIF I). Upon his return in July 2003, he assumed the duties as the Bravo Battery Executive Officer, and in June 2004, he deployed with Bravo Battery and the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) to Iraq in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM II (OIF II).

In May of 2005 Major Curtis reported to The Basic School (TBS) and assumed the duties as the Primary Fire Support Instructor. In April of 2006, he became a Staff Platoon Commander (SPC) with Charlie Company, and subsequently with Alpha Company in November of 2006.

In June 2007, Major Curtis was selected to serve as the Aide-de-Camp for the Commanding General of Training and Education Command (TECOM). He subsequently received orders to Expeditionary Warfare School (EWS) and in May 2009, graduated from both EWS and the Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course (WTI).

In May of 2009 Major Curtis reported to 5th Battalion, 11th Marines and assumed the duties as the Battalion Operations Officer. In November of 2009 he assumed the duties as Commanding Officer, Sierra Battery, and in July of 2010, he deployed with the battery to Afghanistan in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM (OEF 10.2).

In July 2011, Major Curtis reported to Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One (MAWTS-1) where he assumed duties as the Fire Support Instructor for the Ground Combat Department (GCD). In May 2013, Major Curtis assumed the duties as Department Head, Ground Combat Department.

In July of 2014 Major Curtis reported to 1st Battalion, 11th Marines and is currently serving as the Battalion Executive Officer.

His personal awards include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, (2) Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
