SgtMaj Franco

SgtMaj Franco reported to recruit training on 26 Oct 1992, upon arrival he was assigned to 1st Recruit Training Battalion, A Co, platoon 1090 and graduated on 22 Jan 1993.  After graduating recruit training he then reported to Marine Combat Training aboard Camp Pendleton, Ca. for 4 weeks.  After graduating MCT he then reported to Assault Amphibian School on 15 Mar 1993 where he gained the M.O.S. of 1833 Assault Amphibian Crewman and graduated on 20 June 1993.

Private First Class Franco then received orders to 3rd Marine Division, Combat Support Company, Kaneohe Bay, Hi. on 3 July 1993.  Shortly after reporting in he was promoted to Lance Corporal (LCpl).  In July of 1994 LCpl Franco was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Corporal (Cpl).  Cpl Franco participated in the Unit Deployment Program to Okinawa, Japan in 1994. Upon returning from Okinawa Cpl Franco was sent to Korea to assist in a Maritime Pre-Positioning Force offload for a period of 2 months.  Cpl Franco also participated in Operation Balikatan in 1995.  On 1 April 1996 Cpl Franco was promoted to the rank of Sergeant (Sgt), shortly after he participated in SPMAGTF (CARAT-96).

In Dec 1996 he received orders to 1stMarDiv Camp Pendleton, Ca. 3rd Assault Amphibian Battalion, A Co.  After reporting in Jan of 1997 Sgt Franco was serving as 3rd Section Leader where he deployed on WESTPAC from 24 Feb 97 – 30 Sept 1997.  After returning he requested a Battalion Special Order to transfer to C co so that he may go on a UDP to Okinawa, Japan in Oct 1998- May 1999. While deployed Sgt Franco was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant (SSgt) on 1 April 1999.

Upon returning from Deployment he received orders Drill Instructor School MCRD, San Diego in Jan 2000.  After completing school in Mar 2000, he was assigned to 2nd RTBN, Hotel Co. where he served as a D.I. and SDI until Feb 2002 where he was reassigned to Instructional Training Company where he served as a MCIWS and a MCITWS until Oct 2003.

SSgt Franco received orders in Oct 2003 and reported to 1stMarDiv 3rd AABN A Co.  On 1 Nov 2003 SSgt Franco was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant (GySgt).  While assigned to A Co. GySgt Franco deployed in support of OIF II in Feb of 2004 – Oct 2004 where he served as Plt Sgt.  Upon returning from OIF GySgt Franco was assigned as the Company Operations Chief and Company GySgt.  While serving as the Operations Chief GySgt Franco deployed to Okinawa, Japan in Dec 05 where he served as the Operations Chief and filling the billet of the Company First Sergeant (1stSgt). 

Upon returning from UDP GySgt Franco received orders to Inspector Instructor Duty Galveston, Texas and reported in on 5 July 2006.

While assigned to Inspector-Instructor Staff Galveston, TX. GySgt Franco served as the Operations Chief from July 2006-March 2007.  December 2006 GySgt Franco was selected to the rank of 1stSgt and was frocked in March 2007 and assumed the duties of the Company 1stSgt from March 2007-May 2009.

In May 2009 1stSgt Franco was reassigned to 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, Bravo Company where he served as the Company 1stSgt.

In May of 2010 1stSgt Franco deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom where he served as the Company 1stSgt.  He returned from deployment in December of 2010.

Upon his return to CONUS he was reassigned to the Force Reconnaissance Company to assume the duties as Company 1stSgt.

In December of 2011 SgtMaj Franco was selected to his current rank and received orders to serve as Battalion SgtMaj for 1st Bn 25th Marines.

In July of 2014 SgtMaj Franco received orders to 3d Battalion, 7th Marines where he currently serves as the Battalion SgtMaj.

His personal awards include: Bronze Star w/gold star in Lieu of second award, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal w/gold star in lieu of second award, Navy Achievement Medal w/gold star in Lieu of second award, Combat Action Ribbon w/gold star in lieu of second award, Good Conduct Medal w/1 silver star and 1 bronze star.
