LtCol Isaac Moore

Lieutenant Colonel Isaac "Ike" Moore was born and raised in Alaska.  He graduated from Virginia Military Institute in 1999 with a B.A. in History. Following graduation he attended Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania where he served as a graduate assistant coach for the wrestling team and earned a Master's Degree in Education (Curriculum and Instruction), graduating in 2001.  He then earned his commission through the Officer Candidates' Course the same year.  Upon completion of the Basic Officer Course and Infantry Officer Course in August 2002, he was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division at Twenty-nine Palms, California.  During this tour, he served as a rifle platoon commander, 81mm mortar and Combined Anti-Armor Team (CAAT) platoon commander and company executive officer.  He deployed twice with the battalion to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom I&II.

 

In May 2005, First Lieutenant Moore reported to The Basic School in Quantico, Virginia where he was promoted to Captain and served as a warfighting instructor and staff platoon commander with Bravo Company 2-06. Subsequently he was assigned to the Infantry Officer Course for two years where he served as an instructor and a class advisor for class 4-07.

 

In August 2008 Captain Moore reported to Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico, Virginia, graduating in May 2009.  In June 2009 Captain Moore reported to 2d Battalion, 4th Marines (2/4), 1st Marine Division at Camp Pendleton, California where he took command of Fox Company.  The Battalion deployed as the Battalion Landing Team (BLT) with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU).  BLT 2/4 executed a Western Pacific deployment and returned in April 2010.  Captain Moore then took command of the Battalion's Weapons Company, and in October he was assigned to serve as the Officer in Charge of the Battalion's Afghan National Army Advisor Team in preparation for the Battalion's follow on deployment to Afghanistan in September 2011; the battalion served in Musa Qala and Nowzad, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and returned from deployment in May 2012.

 

Major Moore took Command of Recruiting Station Denver, Colorado in July 2012 where he served as the Commanding Officer for three years, departing in July 2015.  Following his tour on recruiting duty, he attended the Marine Corps Command and Staff College in Quantico, Virginia, graduating in June 2016.

 

In July 2016 Major Moore reported to 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines (2/5), 1st Marine Division at Camp Pendleton, California where he served as the Battalion Executive Officer. In October 2016 the Battalion deployed to Okinawa, Japan and formed the BLT for the 31st MEU.  During the deployment Major Moore also served as the Maritime Raid Force Commander for the 31st MEU.  The Battalion returned from deployment in April 2017.

 

In July 2017 Major Moore was assigned to the 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, where he served as the Assistant Operations Officer for five months; the Regiment split in two and formed a Command Element for the Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force, Crisis Response, Central Command (SPMAGTF CR-CC).  Major Moore was assigned to serve as the Operations Officer for the Regimental Headquarters in Camp Pendleton from December 2017-September 2018.  He was subsequently promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and assigned to take command of 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, in September 2018.

 

Lieutenant Colonel Moore's personal decorations include the Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal with gold star, and two Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medals, with combat distinguishing device.
